III. Brand Development

Week 4: SWOT Analysis

SWOT Analysis

Strengths:

A strength for me while doing the vision boards is that I enjoyed a lot of the creativity and the thinking process that lead me to the finalization of my vision boards for three brands: modern culture, geography, and traditions. With the research papers, I definitely learned valuable lessons, which are the key concepts about developing and sustaining a brand over time, and how as a media designer it is our duty to build a brand and sustain it by coming up with a blueprint to communicate a clear and relevant message to a company.

Weaknesses:

I would say that I have trouble putting the vision boards together. I think its because it is my first time doing a vision board on Adobe InDesign. I am so used to creating magazine and brochure layouts. Vision board wise, I am used to creating them on poster board putting pictures together.

Another weakness would have to be me being distracted. After I graduated from Florida A&M, I wanted to go to school as well as going to work in the industry (part-time). Especially where I am currently located, its hard to find a job in the industry so I have been finding jobs left and right, and not realizing that the due date for the assignment is right around the corner.

Opportunities:

Doing this project helped me realize that a product or service cannot last without brand management or a good strategy. As a media designer, our job is to plan, visualize and generate marketing materials based on the needs of the business. We also see what is the one thing that sets their client apart from the rest of other companies.

Dong this project is also an opportunity to help my peers how to create a vision board on InDesign without utilizing a poster board.

Threats:

I think a threat would be not able to teach my peers how to create a vision board on InDesign if I don’t remember how to do it in the long run.
