Key Takeaways

The key takeaways that will have the most impact on my experience as a graduate student are:

Critical Thinking. Critical thinking is very essential throughout the MDMFA program and as a designer. It is a way of thinking to improve how we communicate ideas and solve problems.

Stepping out of my comfort zone. This is something that I struggle with as a child and I tend to not ask a lot of questions and be very timid. During undergrad when I had a leadership position in an organization, I learned to not stay in my shell and be more proactive. It is time for me to strive and prosper and do what I love to do. If I have any questions or concerns about an assignment, I will reach out to my professor.

Creativity. Without creativity, what is design? throughout the MDMFA program I will have the ability to create something new, unique or something with a twist at a MASTERY level! Which means, no mid-level work. Time to take it to the next level!

Questions

I have one question that I have about the program: I want to know if the program will be more design than critical thinking or half and half? I ask this because I want to be advanced with what I love to do, not only that, but to be successful in the MDMFA program. Throughout my undergraduate career, there were a lot of courses that I took the professors were focusing more on something else other than the subject and I don’t want that to happen while I am in the program.

Action Plan

My expectations for the program are to graduate from Full Sail in exactly a year and become a Media Design professional. I want to utilize the resources Full Sail will give me during the program and apply it to the workforce. My long-term goals are to work at an agency as a graphic designer and create logos, flyers, developing a brand, and be an inspiration to many. I also see myself giving back to the community and become a graphic design teacher at my high school. I want to give aspiring graphic designers the tools for them to succeed after high school.
